Flowers & Thumper

I decided that a fuchsia would look nice in my hanging basket this year. It was as I was planting it that I noticed it was called "Upright" something. Go me!

Some lobelia will trail over the sides though :)

This white begonia came with this pink attached - bonus!

I think this is the flax I planted last year (seeds) - supposed to be an annual and I think I weeded it out last year. (shakes head)

Another one I weeded out last year - columbine - another annual!

And finally Thumper, hiding under my lily after I watered him behind the flax and bleeding heart. I was sure he wouldn't be back after I sprayed him with the jet setting on my watering nozzle a couple of days ago.

Thanks for looking.

  1. Lovely pics and nicely framed. Thumper will need more encouragement to not come back.

    1. Thanks Leah. I read somewhere that momma parks the kids somewhere for the day and then comes back for them. I can only assume that momma was parked there herself last summer ;)

  2. Beautiful flowers and lovely shots of them.

Dang, Thumper might be easier to get rid of if he wasn't so doggone cute.

    1. Thanks Messymimi. They are adorable when they are so small and really, I don't mind.

  3. You could probably tame Thumper - they make good pets!!
Lovely flowers. I am jealous - I haven't had time to get to a greenhouse to buy any flowers! I picked up a few things at Costco one day - one (only ONE!) tomato plant, one cucumber plant and a flat of .... pretty white smelly flowers and a flat of ..... pretty purple ones. (I'm tired and must have left my mind somewhere. Can't remember what either of them are called. Sigh.)
    Alyssum. And... petunias. I think.

    1. Sis, I think I'll leave Thumper to live out the life he was meant to live ;) I am kicking myself a bit, I had picked up a wave petunia, but I may have killed it and the rest of the lobelia by not getting them planted soon enough.I'll give them another day to perk up before I pull them and push the planter to the back of the patio.

  4. Lovely blooms despite the over-anxious weeding. The colours are so pretty. And Thumper.. what a sweet little face. One of the cutest creatures on the planet (even if I do say that about at least 3 dozen critters). ;)

    1. Thanks Hilary, I can never tell what's a weed and what is supposed to grow ;) Baby bunnies are so cute, but I agree there are at least 3 dozen more that are just as cute.

  5. My mom kept hanging baskets with fushias for many years. Just seeing one reminds me of the image, her watering and picking off deadheads on a regular basis. It's nice to have a happy reminder of a good thing. So I thank you for that! :)
A friend just brought me 2 extra columbine (one purple, one pink) from her garden PLUS 7 orange lilies, plus 6 assorted iris! She was re-working and replanting and needed extra room. I'm hoping my columbine will decide they are perennials, especially since I gave them a place of honor outside my living room window!

Thanks for sharing your lovely bits of spring color. :)
I think the coyote that haunts the area keeps the bunny population under control. Thumper sure is cute!

    1. Karen, columbine will re-seed itself for quite a long time, I am surprised because they never got to grow at all. Your friend sounds like a good friend to have ;)

  6. Shhhh.... I'll share a secret: I planted lobelia in my front garden last week and was wondering why it is just sort of laying there on the dirt.
    ::face::palm::
Maybe I will sneak off to the flower market and do a little more gardening while my dh is gone these next 2 days... do you think he will notice any changes?

  7. I didn't plant any flowers this year because I knew I'd be moving, so I'm jealous. I have two pots of coleus on the front porch, that's all.
Yesterday at work someone brought in a whole litter of bunnies, not wild, for their first shots. Cute overload! A row of five little noses all wiggling in syncopated rhythm is a sight to see.

    1. Mary Anne, it is hard not to have any flowers because of a move. Glad you have the two pots anyway. Five bunnies? Cute overload indeed!

    1. Jo, last year I almost stepped on one. Sibu had walked right past it, then the next day, he was munching grass beside another. He was not a very observant cat :) I like all flowers and wish that we could grow things like wisteria and bougainvillea here.

  10. Nice shots, Reb. Your thumbs must be a lot greener than mine to have those annuals recur. One of Thumpers cousins is a semi-regular at my place. He tends to graze on spilled birdseed though, and not plants.

    1. Frank, I am amazed. I know the columbine will reseed itself, but it has to grow and flower first - or at least I thought it did. Thumper's family doesn't seem to eat my plants, the mom's just park them in there behind the flowers. I may have to start charging for babysitting ;)
